Weekend Recap

How was y'alls weekend?

I won't bore you with all the details, but let's just say I had the best weekend!

I got to play a REAL scrabble game with my 12 year old friend.
It was a blast.

She and I both had different rules so we met in the middle and it worked well that way.

REAL game boards are so much fun, it was a nice break from my "Words With Friends" obsession.

Poor Aaliyah had no idea that I am the Scrabble Master (only kidding) or that I wasn't going to let her win.

A 12 year old is a pre-teen and I'm pretty sure they are mature enough to lose a game.

Plus, her older sister who is 14 told me that her Mom and Grandmother don't "let" her win, so I shouldn't either.

It was a great Saturday afternoon date.

I suggest all of you find a friend and play a board game at least once a week.

Now, I am not typically a gloater or one who brags, but I know for a fact that my dinner was better than yours last night.

While all of you were eating Nachos and Pizza Slices during the NFL Play-Off Games, I was eating Standing Rib, Collard Greens, Lima Beans, and my Mom's famous Cheesy Mashed Potatoes.

I hate to rub it in, but it was one of those "You had to have been there" moments.

Superb and Divine is all I can say!

Looks like it's going to be the Packers and Steelers on February 6th!

Hey, Did y'all I know I danced in the Halftime Show at the Pro-Bowl in 1997! Good Times!

And my question for today is...
At what age do you stop letting children win games, when is it appropriate to let them learn for themselves?

I sort of felt bad for winning that Scrabble Game, I need to know how you all feel about this!

Here goes nothing....

Here goes nothing....

That's what I was thinking exactly one year ago today when I started my blog.

Although, my idea of what I thought this blog would be has evolved, changed, and basically just grew naturally....
I somehow managed to write 132 posts about all kinds of things.

Khak-a-lackin is exactly one year old today!

Happy Anniversary Khak-a-lackin!

Wow, what a year.

No need to explain.

Just trust me, it's been a year.

Now, in honor of our anniversary...I ask you all a favor.

I have had so many of you silent readers mention to me how much you loved certain posts, thought I was funny, or really liked a recipe.

However, I did not even know you were reading.

Silly, you.

To all of you who read but do not follow...

please "Follow" Khak-a-lackin

Pretty please.

I like to know who's reading for several reasons..

It makes me smile to know who you are.

It helps with content (I've had a few gentlemen let me know they are reading and I need to know this!)

The blog world is about connections, so how can we connect if I don't know who you are!

I thank you for your comments and feedback.

Keep 'em coming!

To celebrate our anniversary and to motivate you to "Follow" us, I have decided to do my very first giveaway!

It's a "Made by Khak" gift.

The lucky winner will receive one of my Mixed CD's that I made for my loved ones for the holidays.

Remember how I said my gifts were going to be homemade this year, well they were and you get a chance to get one too...

Just by following me and commenting that you are following or if you already follow me, leave a comment on this post.

I may also put a little something extra in there too! ;-)

Happy Anniversary to Khak-a-lackin!

To many more,

Are you blended?

...are all words we can use to describe family members.

I do not use the first two.

How do I mean?

Well, you see I have (what I like to call) a blended family.

We have steps, halves, etc...but not really.

We don't use those words and I can't stand them actually.

You see, if we used those words then that would make me an only child.

And THAT I am not.

An only child.

That is not possible nor will I even cater to the idea. Not for one second.

My brother and sister and I share the same mother.

Yes, we have different fathers, but they are my brother and sister.

I hate it when people say to me: So they are your step brother and sister?

No, you idiot! (that's what I'm thinking)

They are my brother and sister, but if you want to get technical we are half, but step would mean we don't share blood.

and THAT we do.

I actually cannot even relate (no pun intended) to people who do not have a blended family.

You know the perfect little 2.5 kids, with one dog, and no divorces or deaths.

I am envious, yes.

Would I change a thing?

NO way.

I "technically" have one step brother, one step sister, one half brother, one half sister, two other brothers that I claim whom share the same last name as my half brother and sister, a cousin (that's not really my cousin, but feels like she is so I love her) An Aunt and Uncle whom I call Aunt Sherrie and Uncle Phil (who are not really my aunt and uncle, they are my brother and sisters's aunt and uncle). I also have a step-sister that I claim who is not even my step sister she is my brother and sisters. Oh, and I also have one step-Dad and another step-Dad and step-Mom (who aren't mine either but we have a connection and that's all that matters too!)

Confused yet?

Yes, it is confusing. But it is the way it is supposed to be and I don't know what I would do without the steps, halves, reds, and greens.

Whatever the heck you want to be to me, come on over give me a HUG and let's call each other family.

And to all of you who don't think all this step and half stuff is for real, you've got another thing coming.

History is history.

And if you have been in my family my whole life, that means "TECHNICALLY" you ARE my family!

I think I've said my peace to the naysayers,

Talk to me:
Are you blended?
If you are, isn't it great?
If you're not, come to one of my family dinners and stay awhile. You will wish you were!
